Republican drops out of 3rd District congressional race

By ERIK LARSEN • TOMS RIVER BUREAU • April 9, 2010

TOMS RIVER — Republican Congressional candidate Joe Rullo said this afternoon that he has decided to end his longshot bid to represent New Jersey's 3rd District in the House of Representatives.

"I love God, I love Jesus Christ, I'm a Boy Scout...But this Boy Scout and this Mr. Smith ain't going to Washington. I can't play this game...I'm just too damn honest,'' Rullo quipped.

Rullo, 40, is a Toms River resident who owns both a solar panel installation business and a landscaping company. He explained he will now invest all of his energies into helping the Regular Republican Ocean County Organization elect the establishment candidate, NFL player Jon Runyan of Mount Laurel. He will also work just as hard to re-elect Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., from New Jersey's 4th District.

Rullo said his brief campaign was a wake up call in how professional politics are played and he found himself simply in over his head … behind in fundraising and trying to chase a lofty boyhood dream that required too much compromise. Nevertheless, he said he does not regret giving it a shot.

On Friday morning, Rullo said he had an epiphany that he would better serve the Republican Party by remaining as a political operative behind the scenes rather than out front being the candidate.

"Win or not win in the June primary, I didn't want to possibly affect the (Ocean County) freeholder race if TROOC (Traditional Republicans of Ocean County) runs candidates in the June primary. That was a big concern. .‚.‚. I didn't want to be a factor in making the difference in TROOC winning or losing,'' Rullo said.

Having said that, Rullo said he feels Runyan is the best candidate to defeat incumbent Rep. John Adler, D-NJ, in November.

Nevertheless, Rullo said he also has developed a newfound respect for Adler now that he has gotten a taste of what life is like on the campaign trail. Rullo said that although he is a loyal Republican who will work to unseat Alder, Rullo said the congressman deserved the respect of his constituents for his unquestionable hard work and for having to put up with the nasty vitriol that has become part of the political discourse.

"We're still the best country in the world, no matter what happens,'' Rullo said.

Posted on Asbury Park Press 9:11pm on March 15, 2010 Congressman Adler, It is great that you voted against a bill that will bankrupt the United States as the STIMULUS FAILURE PACKAGE you voted for with Liberals. Stop Stauling! The BILLIONS you voted for DID NOT ROI (RETURN ON INVESTMENT) to Taxpayers-- TRUE Stockholders of America. The Return On Investment is Employment with Job Creation not the Unemployment of your two year term. Its manufacturers in renewables in our district not the absence of them with Corzine your $10,000.00 contributor. The Return On Investment is Home Sales NOT the foreclosures as well as the Horrible Home Values that come with Realestate Standstill. Last, the Debt of BILLIONS of stimulus failure with PELOSI crippled America with NO Return On Investment with Job Creation, Home Sales, and Consumer Spending to pay back taxpayers the true stockholders of America. It is time to get to work instead of the stauling with healthcare to avoid hard work. You say Goodbye! WE say Rullo. "Ordinary" Joe Rullo for Congress

Why budget is increased for first time in a decade in Ocean County?

1. Ocean County residents paid property taxes last year that grew at a slower rate than the state average during 2009. (As Reported by A.C. Press with NJ Community Affairs data)

2. Republicans did not recieve fair share of state aid from Ex-Liberal Senator Adler and his Camden/Hudson County Democrats punishing Freeholders for their conservative budget.
3. Ask NOW Conressman Adler to provide aid to cover the 1.7 Million Dollars for Senior Services such as the "Meals On Wheels Program" and other programs the democrats dump on our empathetic Republican freeholders.
4. Unlike many dog and pony show budgets, the Freeholders provided a secure reserve for unpredictable situations like the RECORD BREAKING snow removal to keep the county from a stand still.

Rullo plans to stay in the race for Congress

Toms River resident Joseph Rullo is about the longest of long shots for the 3rd District Republican congressional nomination, but he doesn’t see it that way.

“I’m the frontrunner in Ocean County.  Our name recognition polls are showing in excess of 90%-10%,” he said.  “I absolutely am in for the long haul.”

That poll wasn’t the product of a professional pollster, but of Rullo’s own phone calls to his list of registered voters.  The solar energy company owner who once ran for freeholder as a Democrat said he’s made about 2,000 calls already.

Vicari Asks Congress To Rethink Social Security Tax

Members of Congress are talking about another stimulus plan, this time promising $250 to every senior citizen in the nation.

Ocean County Freeholder Joe Vicari says he's written to the Congressional delegation asking them to re-think the tax on Social Security.

He says with the economy still in turmoil, and the Social Security cost of living increase cancelled this year, there is no better time to enact this important change.

Congressman Hopeful Joseph Rudy Rullo Endorses Social Security Tax Modification for Seniors to aid till COLA Unfrozen by Liberal Democratic Congress in Washington:

COLA needs to be given back to the Seniors by eliminating political corruption and ear marks adding to revenue, and the Freeholder has pointed out an unfair tax situation for seniors that can help them till COLA is reinstated.  The Liberal Democrats need to be taught a lesson by the seniors when we clean the house of Liberal Congressman John Adler.  The social security tax code hasn't been changed since 1983 and is out of date for the cost of living adjustment for the last 20 years.  The Senior Citizen in Ocean County and Burlington County are taxed so heavily with the current tax structure that there is very little benefit to work for that extra money to get buy.  Both individuals and married seniors face an unfair tax based on the benefit.  Social security benefits are taxed up to 80% once some of the allowable income thresholds are reached.  Between the gap of $1.7 million the county delivers for the dozens of Senior programs like Meals On Wheels, and the Outdated 1983 Tax Structure for seniors on Social Security, the $250.00 almost a year after the cost of adjustment was Frozen for seniors is too Little."

First trial set to begin in NJ corruption probe

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The most eagerly awaited video release in New Jersey won't be showing in theaters, but will screen exclusively at a Newark federal courthouse, starting this week.

With the first trial in New Jersey's largest ever corruption probe set to begin, the public finally gets to see Solomon Dwek in action.

He's the government cooperator who secretly recorded hours of meetings at restaurants, diners and parking lots over two years, showing religious leaders, politicians and municipal employees in various states of alleged wrongdoing.

It's been six months since the mammoth corruption bust resulted in 44 arrests.

The first to go to trial is former Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini, who faces extortion and bribery charges. Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday.

Joseph Rudy Rullo advocates using Federal Election Commission and New Jersey Election Commission to work with NJ Attorney General and Fed Attorney General's office to arrest Corrupt Politicians.......................

Immediate transformation of the local, state, federal political system is needed. The FEC and NJELEC can be used to arrest crooked politicians. The Federal Election Commission is for federal level such as congressman. The New Jersey Election Commission is for state assembly, mayors, and local office. Currently, both the FEC and NJ ELEC enforce laws of campaign finance with contributions, expenditures, and in kind contributions. This is a complex system that politicians use to report donations publicly. Due to the corruption in government crossing all party lines reform measures are needed. Using ELEC and FEC with state/federal attorney generals would protect the treasury instead of the pockets of politicians. Many hours can be saved using the FEC/ELEC. Every politician should be required to disclaim on business communications Pay To Play Policy Disclosure. I declare corrupt politicians a threat to National Security under colors of Public Treason. This summer was a discgrace!

Congressman Adler, How did the NRC renew this plant for 20 years with a days notice broadsiding most local activist? Also, the plant had a shut down of one of its components after renewal. It has been months since this incidence occured, and I have posted publicly on my Congressional Campaign website asking for a complete open hearing on the competance, effectiveness, and outdated policies of the NRC. The NRC failed this district for several months under your leadership, and I am quite interested why Senator Connors months ago did your job demanding answers from FEDS? In 2001 I worked with the Current Board of Chosen Freeholders, Nuclear Watch Group, and Berkley township among others for an open hearing. I was part of a federal inquiry question. The NRC couldn't answer what would happen if a 747 hit a proposed above ground cask. Your political grandstanding made me realize how serious this is. I demand an Open Hearing to ask NRC, WHY? NOW! We know their policies are outdated. If you are so concerned about the drinking water why did you wait so many months to speak out?

Ocean County OKs $2.3M. for senior programs

The Board of Chosen Freeholders approved Wednesday more than $2.3 million in funding for senior programs in 2010.

The county, which claims the largest population in the state of residents 75 years old and older, plans to provide services to about 37,000 residents this year.

On Wednesday, the board approved 37 contracts for several different programs the county runs, which will be administered by governmental and nonprofit agencies over the course of the year.

“There is not just one program that covers the needs of all our seniors,” Freeholder Joseph Vicari said in a statement released after the meeting. “Our services need to be as unique and varied as the population itself.”

The Office of Senior Services will oversee a total of 53 contracts this year worth

$5.3 million.

One of the largest is the county’s home-delivered meals program, which is expected to serve 247,344 meals this year.

“These meals are often a lifeline for the frail and disabled seniors,” said Jane Maloney, director of the office, in the same statement, “bringing not only a nutritional value but also a social contract.”

The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders delivers every time an economically efficient, fiscally responsible, and well planned budget with forsight and intelligent forecasting predicting possible trends. In turn, the previous Democratic State Government rewards North Jersey Democratic towns and county with unfair aid distribution compared to Ocean County. As the Freeholders deliver time and time again, the state has used their efficiency to bail out more inefficient areas of the state unfair to the Republican County Government. In addition, Congressman John Adler a Democratic Senator in recent years has failed to close the GAP the Freeholders need to cover $1.7 Million plus in Senior Services that many are vital to life and quality of life of our Seniors. The $250.00 per. senior should have been $500.00 or more since rate of inflation frozen, and contributed to Freeholder Joe Vicari and the boards Empathetic and Generous essential life sustaining contract for seniors. $1.7 million plus dollars and the dozens of contracts the board has to cover is similar in pattern to our State Legislators having to Lead with inquiry on the NRC incompetance at the Oyster Creek when Adler waited months. Federal responsibilities of Congressman John Adler in transparent objectivety case in point is inefficient without focus. Too late too little again, Camden County Congresman John Adler.

to taking back the house for Republicans
in New Jersey's 3rd Congressional District.

Before losing to John Adler, Republicans held the 3rd District
for 24 years. With the support of Republicans in the three counties,
we can win it back in 2010.

I can win the primary because I am the only Republican candidate

who can win the support of all three counties - Ocean, Burlington, and Camden.
In addition, because of my district wide support and my relationships outside the district,

RULLO DEFENDS Governor Chris Christie Against Verbal Assaults:

We need School Board Elections in November since 10% voter turnout for more than 50% of the property taxes in NJ is decided by as high as 70% of the voters. We can educate half a dozen children, hire new teachers, and refund the balance of savings from cuts in SuperIntendants salaries to PROPERTY TAX reductions and PROPERTY TAX REBATES for seniors... See More/disabled/veterans with other taxpayers. If we continue to develope charter schools in New Jersey, I know it will produce more efficient schools than the top heavy administration with their waste in problem districts. I believe in books, pencils/pens, teachers, school programs, quality education, safe education, and REDUCTION OF WASTEFUL TOP HEAVY MANAGEMENT making more money than CONGRESSMAN and the Vice President of the United States and OUR GOVERNOR. It is disturbing. I know as FACT that NJ is ready for November School Board Elections to save millions in taxes to consolidate elections as well as cutting salaries of the TOP BRASS of schools making enough to fund dozens of teachers, thousands of books, fund school programs, and reduce property taxes or fund rebate program program. In fact, I am on record at the Ocean County Freeholder meeting Open Public Speaking supporting November Elections. I stand with our Governor at a time where we have to move forward with the problems of New Jersey. Our schools are the finest because of the teachers, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, janitors, and students/parents in the system. We need to hire management not ROYALTY LEVEL PAY SCALES, and focus on teacher/students/programs. Superintendants alone with their assistant level postions are costing NJ Taxpayers Hundreds of Millions as well as New Teacher's a job. Top heavy management takes funding away from teachers, books, student programs, and PROPERTY TAX REBATES. I stand with GOVERNOR CHRISTIE PROUDLY for a NEW NJ. We need conservative fiscal responsibility with student/teacher focused education not CEO LEVEL PAY SCALES for Superintendants. The teacher who called our Governor a "Fat F__k" up North should be suspended without pay for his profanity as well as horrible example to students on how to treat human beings with respect and dignity. Thank goodness this teacher is the .01% if that. Facebook has many children present and this vulgar language warrants an apology to the Governor and his family. If it wasn't a big deal it wouldn't be on politickernj.com and throughout the media. I demand as a property taxpayer of New Jersey for an immediate apology by this employee to our Governor. Children will see this behavior as acceptable as they learn from their teachers. Join me in rejecting the verbal assault on our Governor that was irrelevant to the issue of schools. Shame on You!
